Richard Mosse is an Irish born photographer who is best known for his documentation of the civil war in eastern Congo. It is particularly notorious because of the unorthodox use of infrared film used to capture his subjects. The film was originally used for american reconnaissance pilots and creates a pink colour change of all foliage. He explains his intentions in depth here: https://vimeo.com/67115692
Rut Blees Luxembourg
Luxemberg is a german photographer who's work specifically focuses around night time and low light photography of the urban landscape. She uses a long exposure to capture the small amount of light coming from the places she photographs such as office blocks or council estates. For example one of her most famous photographs, a picture of an old council estate, was taken with a long exposure to capture the small amount of light being emitted by the individual flats. Luxemburg also experiments with her shutter speed to capture the light trails of moving cars. Again these are taken in low light situations which corresponds with her other work. Overall a lot of her work is taken in what looks like quite uncomfortable places where you wouldn't particularly want to be at night.
Robert Clayton
Clayton is another landscape photographer who is well known for his series of photos on the lion farm estate in Birmingham. His photographs not only capture the brutalists and bland design of the estate itself, but also captures the people who live on the estate and call it home. The estate itself was built in the 1960s and had become a part of the vast council estates that were being created. However, in the decades after and the privatisation of social housing during Thatchers government saw a decline in social housing and this is ultimately portrayed in the Claytons images of the dismal scenes at the lion farm estate.
